is it fall yet?

we are enjoying summer-like weather here in southern california. the only signs of fall? the halloween mini-sessions are underway and all saturdays are almost all booked through thanksgiving! just a quick reminder, friends, the last day to schedule a session is on nov 28th. and that's it for 2009! the studio will be closed from dec 15th to jan 1st.

on my beloved dodgers, they ended a really awesome season (in my humble opinion) last night in philadelphia. i'm already looking forward to spring!

and who doesn't love a party? heather of pixie toys and i are celebrating one year at our atlantic avenue location on friday, november 6th from 6-9pm. this will coincide with the bixby knolls first fridays. more information to follow in our monthly newsletter. see side bar to sign up to receive it!

This sweet girl is back for her birthday portrait. Just like when I met her last year, she is so full of life! Always ready to give hugs and kisses. The coolest thing this year? She showed me how to sign the words "shoes" and "socks". How awesome is that?

summer of '09 recap. fencing lessons. piano lessons. gaming camp. rowing camp. crafting the essay online. guitar lessons. baseball. beach. master bath repainting. lots of swimming. fourth of july bbq. s'mores in the firepit. ian's new lounge. thomas' new lair. oc fair. tears for fears. in-laws' 50th anniversary. sleepovers. bye bye birdie. dragon boat race. poolside movies. san diego. but not legoland. and yes, disneyland. 

more boys

lately i've been shooting more families with tween boys. i think it's so awesome, because most kids, especially boys this age, dread having their photos taken. but parents, my advice...just talk it up! let them know how much fun it's going to be. dress them in something they will be comfortable wearing. no need for everything to match and color-coordinate. just bring them in! because before you know it, time has passed and all you have are the school pictures that rarely show their fun and quirky side. and they are just that.
